His tank is destroyed in the Battle of the Bulge, but he escapes, wounded, and is hidden by a Belgian farm family behind enemy lines and is nursed back to health by their young daughter who he falls in love with. After being rescued by the Allies, he is mistaken for a German spy and imprisoned until he can prove his true identity. In the meantime, his young wife receives a telegram that he had been killed. When he is finally released, he comes back to the States only to discover his wife has remarried, so he decides to head back to Belgium to find his true love.
