June 26, 2015. Same-sex marriage is legalized in the United States and this starts a rollercoaster of emotions for Oliver. He decides to email Elio, knowing it's probably not the best thing to do, but he doesn't know who else to turn to.

I saw the movie yesterday (November 26, 2019) and was blown away. I ordered the books right after, but haven't read them yet. So this is entirely based on the movies. (Well, almost. I did search for the name of Oliver's wife as written in 'Find Me'). The chapters aren't very long, some of them are pretty short actually. I usually tend to write longer chapters, but for this particular theme I can't figure out how to make that work. I guess a lot of the themes are up for discussion and interpretation, just like the movie. Feel free to add your own thoughts in the comments! Cafi itself is a fictional country and while I absolutely believe they would have had slave trade too (because most places did and I don't want to pretend they didn't), I want the book to include Oliver's fight to abolish slavery in his country. Otherwise, there may be previous mentions of abuse, but it will be extremely mild, nothing graphic, and the chapter itself will pre-warn you. Oliver's relationship with his family can be problematic at times. Please take care of yourself during any chapters that may be triggering for you.
