He didn't see it coming. The car - the flash of lights. The screech as it slammed into him. Not through his drunken haze as he wandered in the darkness.

It's all my fault. I could've saved him, I should've. He's dead because of me. I'd do anything to take it back. To make it up to him. Anything at all. Even then, nothing I do will bring him back.
Jamie Wayne has felt dead for as long as he has been. She's been visited by death before, but not like this. It's different. The pain is supposed to go away, or at least dull.
After the death of her mother only a year ago, she and her father moved to a new town where she met Alex. Everyone knew him as the kind, attractive and socially acceptable guy he was. Except he was more than that - he was the light at the end of the tunnel when all she could find was darkness.
But everything's different now. He's gone - dead.
Nothing about it is normal, or makes sense. The only thing she knows for sure is that it isn't getting better - it's only getting worse. The more she remembers, the more she wants to forget. Everyone else already has. Only her mind won't let her, which makes her wonder if there's more to it. Or if there's a way to fix it.
For once, she has to guide herself through the darkness to reach the light at the end of the tunnel on her own. If there is any.
