And somehow, time jumping women named Sam keep ending up on pirate ships and then fall in love with some young dashing pirate with a secret heart of gold. 

Then, of course, there's even more vampire fiction. Not to mention werewolf fiction. Dragon riders make a lot of appearances, too.
