Literally. 

He's a dog shifter, but after an incident happens he's too scared to shift back to his human form. Then a family came along and adopted him, realizing he was in need of a family, but 3 years later, a fire destroyed his home along with the people in it (him barely making it out himself). 

He runs away, nowhere in particular, and he just so happens to run into Alpha Mathews and Alpha Dante's territory.
