Imagine a Hallmark movie with teenagers (because everyone needs that right now). This will be a short ten-ish chapter book.

Two people meet in a math class on their first day of middle school. They become close, but immediately grew apart after they changed seats during the second semester. But that was years ago: they are seniors now. Throughout high school, Samantha has run into many situations where she felt connected to Oliver--ending up with the same locker his sister had, walking past each other everyday in the same spot, having many of the same friends, etc. But Sam had her heart broken one day in sixth grade when she finally realized her feelings for him on the same day that he asked another girl out.

Bad description, I know, but bare with me and I will hopefully deliver a cute and enjoyable holiday story!

It all seemed perfect to me, but there was something else deep down inside this stranger. "Why are you here?" I stood on my toes and tried to look taller compared to him. He rose an eyebrow. "My sister, she's here." He paused, "Somewhere." "Oh," I frowned and look to my shoes. "Why are you here?" I felt his breath on my forehead. "Me?" I placed my finger on my chest. I nodded and looked up to meet his gaze. It was hard not to get lost in his eyes. Beautiful. "I need space," I began, but I didn't know how to finish, I sighed. "To find myself."

When Oliver was in the 7th grade, all the other boys started talking about dating and getting girlfriends. He went along with it, pretending to feel the way they did, when in reality, he felt no such attraction. It wasn't until the summer between 8th and 9th grade that he finally realized he was attracted to the same sex. Now, months into the 9th grade, he's starting to feel strangled by this secret that he has to keep. But with a very religious family, and friends he doesn't know if he can trust, he has nobody to confide in. Between this and being skinnier than all the other guys his age, he's starting to feel outside of it all, and his nerves are starting to get the best of his highschool self. And on top of everything else, he's started feeling differently about a close friend. Seeing one of his best friends, Logan Anderson, in a different capacity. Having lived with a complicated family situation all his life, Logan has learned to manage a lot going on in his life. With his father's bipolar disorder holding a big part of his life, he often stresses about his chances of ending up the same way. Seeing the way his siblings see his father, it's one of Logan's biggest fears to end up the same way. So he represses his depressive thoughts, his minor addiction, and his clear suspicions that the path he's headed down has already been set. Now, halfway through his freshman year, he has yet another thing in his life that he needs to repress. Because now, he can't think about his best friend Oliver without his mind filling with all the wrong things. And he is far from okay with it.
