Project Animos - Mentality

Andrea is set to become one of the leading minds of her age. She passed project Animos, something only 50% of the adapted can do. She's a literal genius, and anything she could ever want to accomplish her projects is given to her. But as she begins to grow into her new role in society, she begins to question how she even passed Animos in the first place.
30 years ago module 198 was first made available for public use. Deemed entirely safe by every administration, and encouraged for general use through large subsidies, this drug could change an embryo's genetic structure, adapting a developing child's brain to work better and faster. Imagine the scientific community's joy and surprise when 3-year-olds began to score higher on IQ tests than noble prize winners. But within fifteen years, the scientific community regretted their decision to mess with nature. These now teenagers had gone rogue, mad, for no apparent reason. In order to protect the general public, the Animos project was established, through which advanced children were monitored and screened to determine whether they were sane enough to remain in general society.
Those who pass are deemed the answer to society's problems, and are treated almost like celebrities.
Those who fail Animos are locked up in protected facilities throughout the nation, to protect them and others. They are not allowed any contact with the outside world, and for good reason. However, when a few geniuses put their heads together, nothing is impossible.
