Gaster, the Royal Scientist whom the underground adores, along with his lazy colleague Sans and boisterous son Papyrus, analyze the mysteries of the underground. How do souls function? Can monsters absorb human souls? What happens when I give determination to something not living?
One fatal day, Gaster falls into his greatest creation, the CORE. Sans and Alphys carry on the legacy, but can never fill Gaster's shoes. Meanwhile, Gaster is transported beyond time and space, where time precedes him. Everything runs as it should, except he doesn't exist. How will the brothers, the king, and the new Royal Scientist cope? Will Sans and Gaster reunite, while the anomaly alters timelines and destroys monster livelihood?

Gaster is the current royal scientist, set with a mission to break the barrier and free monster-kind from their underground prison. His loyalty and persistence to the task is clear, since he'll make whatever sacrifice necessary to complete it. However, even a perfectionist can be blind to some of their own flaws. Gaster has a habit of pushing things or himself too far. An accident occurs in the lab. Whilst trying to save him; one of his lab assistants, Y/N, gets injured. Burdening himself with even more pressure and guilt to fix it, Gaster thinks that doing all of her work for her will cover up the incident. Still, the sad reality is that the damage can't be undone. Well, Gaster ends up spending more and more time with her. As a result, both of them gain an entirely new perspective of the other, they aren't just another monster in a lab coat anymore. Hey! Written: May 10th, 2017--June 22nd, 2017 reposted from my AO3, anonemones; contains both part one and part two. After a year of living on the surface, monsters and humans have gotten along well, with (mostly) everyone adjusting to the many changes without much trouble. However, events take a strange turn when Sans and Papyrus--both of whom have been acting unlike themselves--go missing, supposedly without a trace. In their place are two monsters who go by the names of Wingdings and Aster, twins, claiming to be the lost Royal Scientist. Everyone is thrown for a loop, especially as nobody remembers a Wingdings or Aster--or, as they claim to be, "Dr. Gaster"--nor do they remember a Royal Scientist before Alphys. And with Sans and Papyrus missing, things don't look good for either of the boys. As their friends search for the missing skeletons, Wingdings and Aster work together to uncover what's happened while they were gone, as well as what might've caused everyone to forget them in the first place. But, trouble lurks within the shadows, as the Void closes in on them once again--refusing to let go of what belongs to it. And unfortunately, the Void is not the only thing after the boys' lives.Complete
