Journey to Nowhere

It was always the four of them. Danny, Penny, Francis, and Jackson. They were like the four amigos. Then there were five, and Penny was fine with that. He liked Madaline, and it was more than obvious that Danny LIKED her, but Penny didn't say anything.
Soon, it became apparent that Penny, himself, had feelings for none other than his best friend, Francis. But, it didn't take long for them to become not-best-friends when Jackson and his stupid inability to handle his own emotions started taking up all of Francis's time.
Suddenly, Penny was the fifth wheel, and suddenly he wasn't enjoying it. Anything, really. At all.

Skip two years after high school, and Penny is finally doing everything that he always (loosely) dreamed he would. He's just better than everyone.
Unfortunately, this isn't Penny's story. This isn't anyone's story, really.
This is the story about how one little town in the boondocks of Southern Illinois, called Nowhere, was hiding a big secret behind its old knick-knack stores and run-down gas stations.
