Rusty is just a street rat in the sizable city of Cristlyne who's constantly getting lost in her thoughts and the vast amounts of people surrounding her. She doesn't look like much, but no one would believe the horrors she's seen, even at the tender age of seventeen. People don't bug her and that's how she likes it.
Zaya is the only one left in what seems like the whole city who will still entertain Rusty and her grandiose thoughts. She has always been there for Rusty, and will be until her mission is complete, then she will be there for her in the after.
Joshua is the epitome of popular jock. He has half of the girls in the school gawking at him daily from a distance and just about the other half throwing themselves at him, but he doesn't want any of that. His interests include video games and reading- both things that aren't exactly appreciated in their society.
When a horrific incident brings them together, they notice some changes in themselves. Like wings. And odd powers.
