"Are you sure you'll be fine?" he tried giving her a reassuring look.
"Yes, I'll be okay. Just go, your fans await."
"Okay, but if you need me, just say the word and I'll be home before you know it."
"Johnnie, I'm fine. Trust me."
"Okay." he said as his grasp on her hand slowly loosened.
"Okay." she repeated and let go of the tips of his fingers.
He leaned in and gave her a kiss on the cheek before turning to the airport. "I love you Amanda."
"Love you too." she said and averted her eyes away as soon as he turned around. "And I'm so sorry." she whispered, turning away to hail the next cab going into the city.

I hid it well, maybe even too well with the amount of dread I was in. I loved Johnnie, and I'll always love him, he helped me without even realizing it. All this pain, all this anger, flushed away by his presence. He was the love of my life. So I made a plan, 10 days, 10 possibilities, 10 possible outcomes. I would give myself 10 days to live my life to the fullest, so on that horrific last day -the 10th day- I could determine my suicide. I would look for hope within that ten days, and if I found something to stay for, I would get help.
