Our world and Aetherworld are semi-parallel universes that cross over eachother every millenia. During the crossing things and beings cross over to the other world. The crossing only lasts a couple years before both universes separate again and crossing over becomes impossible. Jasmine is one such soul that finds herself on the other side.
