*PREVIEW* I could see it all. Everything I'd ever dreamed of. 500 feet in front of me was my ticket to glory. To racing immortality. In a few short seconds, I would join an elite list of drivers to win the greatest spectacle in racing. In my rookie season in the Cup Series, I was about to win the Daytona 500. But as I got closer to the line, time moved slower and slower. It felt like an eternity as I pulled into the tri-oval. The fans were standing and screaming as the field approached the checkered flag. I could taste victory. But then..in a split second..everything changed. I'd never be the same. All I knew was that the wreck started behind me. The next thing I knew, I went from seeing a victory to only seeing concrete. The last thing I remember was my car turning dead right into the field and getting popped up into the fence. I will never forget the sound of metal ripping and shearing off as my car hit the fence. The car came back down and I blacked out, never knowing if I won the race. ------------------------------ Welcome to my new story! I'm happy to be back and I hope I can write a lot more than I usually do. This is a trip back to my roots: another NASCAR story. This one is completely original, and while it will feature other drivers, it is not necessarily a fanfic. I'm writing this primarily from the first person point of view but maybe later I can switch to third person. Anyways, here's more about the plot and the characters. This story will follow the everyday life and career of Colton Daniels, an up-and-coming driver who gets his big break before the 2021 season, when he is selected to replace retiring legend Jimmie Johnson. This is not surprising to anyone who has seen him race: he has torn up the lower series, winning several ARCA titles and the 2020 Xfinity Series title. One question remains about Colton: Will he be able to fill the massive shoes left by one of the most successful drivers in the sport's history? And what twists will he face? All Rights Reserved
