Mahalia knows that she and her mom are struggling financially, even if her mom won't admit it. But their financial problems quickly become impossible for Mahalia's mom to hide, especially when Mahalia comes home to find her mother buried beneath an ever growing pile of unpaid bills and loans. In an effort to keep their business and themselves afloat, Mahalia and her mom outsource and begin in-home cleaning services as an additional stream of income. However, one of the homes Mahalia finds herself scrubbing from ceiling to floor happens to belong to Finn Rowe, the son of the mayor and the boyfriend of the girl who bullies her relentlessly at school. Mahalia does her best to keep these two aspects of her life separate but it is only a matter of time before Finn discovers who has so thoughtfully been cleaning his room and folding his clothes. He is furious, but they both have something the other needs so they bottle their hatred and attempt t o co-exist peacefully because, as Mahalia slowly learns, Finn could potentially be the key to solving she and her mother's financial problems.
