When she was about 5 years old her parents told her to hide they got killed by a bear. She screamed. Shawn was in the woods and heard her scream he's the one that saved her from the bear. He knew he couldn't leave her out here all alone so he adopted her but never liked the idea of being called a dad and she'd been skeptical to even consider him as anyone other than Shawn.
