Timothy Hitching has vanished. He was last seen with his girlfriend last night near the Thames. In the meantime, Sherlock feels unsettled - something he knows is happening. Some plan. Some scheme. His assumptions are proved correct when Tim is recovered dying in a horribly mutilated state, and in a state of terror.

That night, the entire electrical supply has been shut down throughout the entirety of London. Hospital patients in critical conditions without life support systems. Communications cease.
