Before she was Ecthelien she was someone else, but that didn't matter. Her new parents loved her and all her strange ways. Everything was peaceful, everything was content. It didn't matter that everyone had been expecting her to be a boy. It didn't matter that she was going to be called Ecthelion if that'd been the case.

At least until she played in a fountain one day.
