Let me start by quoting Malala Yousafzai
" We realize the importance of our voices only when we are silenced".
This is very true in this story. My story! A single mother who dreams nothing more than a gender equal world.
I come from a land of unity in diversity which glorifies culture and tradition. Its beautiful but its not uncommon in this society to see sons being praised and celebrated than daughters. So how did this little girl Kaiya who was insecure, diffident find her place in the society. From being abused, witnessing physical abuse, yearning for respect and love TO being seen as an example for others took years of pain and self growth. It's not easy to share this story with the world. Doing it in hope to bring change & difference and hold another being who is going through the same situation and say "You are not alone!".
So come and join me for the most authentic piece of story you will ever read.
