Springtrap is human. Sorry, was human. He...wasn't the best person when he was a human, however. Besides murdering innocent children, including his oldest son, he did have a family. A dead family, at least. A wife, two sons, and a daughter. They were all killed by his own animatronics, everybody except the oldest son, who Springtrap had killed on purpose, unlike the other deaths.
How Springtrap died, however? A simple Springlock accident caused by the spirits of the children he had killed, of course!
Why did Springtrap kill his son? That's a story for another day.
However, a story never ends with a bad ending, so here I am to continue that story for you. In my own words, in my own world. Just sit back and relax.
Springtrap was shipped to somewhere he didn't recognize after the fire of Fazbear's Fright: The Horror Attraction. Little did he know, he used to know this place too well. He was it's creator after all.
Perhaps we shouldn't spoil the book too much.

DISCONTINUED PS, this is a Terrence Afton AU, it's most definitely not like the usual Terrence Afton AU, but some people really hate when he exists. He is the oldest kid. In this AU, all animatronics have human forms, they look similar to how they looked when they were human. Bon Bon is really short though. Yes, hey all used to be human and we're murdered children, killed by the almighty Purple Guy, the Man Behind the Slaughter, William Afton. And his side kicks, Glitchtrap and Vanny. But, I think we all know Elizabeth Afton died due to an incident with Circus Baby, Chris was killed accidentally by Mike, William was Springlocked and in my AU, I go with the theory Rosa got into a car crash and drove off a cliff. And Terrence committed suicide.
