This poem is about a woman who feels undesirable in her own skin. Everyone has their own definition of what true beauty is, but beauty is much more than the surface of your own skin. Beauty is meant to be looked at with fascination as it comes from within. This poem illustrates that this woman is not afraid to be herself and that her beauty is a radiance of spirit. She battles with finding validation within herself because she compares herself to the women in the magazines. Eventually she understands what makes her beauty unique and that is her distinctive personality, her fearless attitude and nature, and to embrace her imperfections because to her that is the true essence of beauty. Beauty does not need to be described and depicted through pictures and concepts which penetrates our minds. Be your own kind of beautiful because you don't need to be accepted by others as long as you accept yourself.
