The story is told from the perspectives of Carlos Rodriguez and Michael (Mike) Smith.
they meet in elementary, they meet Rosita, George and Charlie throughout their school years.
in the 1st semester of the 2nd year in high school, they have an exchange student program, Rosita and Charlie go to south Korea, George goes to north Korea and Carlos and Mike go to Japan.
in Japan Mike is interested in a male named Alex(Hiyoshi Tanaka), soon they get into a relationship of abuse. Carlos finds marks on him ,and decides to call his friends and together try to keep Mike busy and away from Alex.
soon enough Alex is in jail charged for abuse, a year later and Carlos confesses his long time feelings for Mike, and live happily.
