Le monde d'Erion est en plein bouleversement. 
 Des sécheresses et des inondations d'une rare violence détruisent cultures et villages. Les plus faibles tombent malades et les morts sont nombreux.
 Dans ce monde en perdition, les lieurs de pierres apparaissent comme les coupables idéales. Pensez-vous, grâce à leurs gemmes, ils sont capables de magie et de malice. 
 Regardez les termajis, ces sales gitans, un petit bout d'ambre et ils peuvent faire bouillir de l'eau. Ne sont-ils pas responsables des inondations et des dysenteries qui les accompagnent ?
 Chacun à leur façon, Youna et Synwulf, deux jumeaux termajis, vont tenter de survivre dans ce monde qui les rejettent.
