Enola is just turning 17, which in her tribe, the Adahy, consider it to be the mark of her womanhood and a celebration will be held. Men from her village will all compete for her hand in marriage, and whichever one deems themselves worthy enough will be claimed suitable by the elders and marry her. But Enola isn't ready to settle down, she takes after what her name means: Solitary. She prefers being in the forest and with animals other than with the company of a man; they all annoy her. When Enola finds there is truth to her most favorite legend, the Thunderbird, her life is destined to take a great leap of faith into the unknown where she meets a man unlike all the others. One who isn't childish, but is a blessing from the Great Spirit it's self. But a great storm plagues their small village, keeping her from seeing him. But even if she could, the elders shun down upon dating outside of their tribe, and forbid their secretive love from ever being legitimate.
