11 parts Complete The TARDIS landed with a hollow thump and the door swung open with a squeak. Outside, the air was cool and the hills rolling. Above Clara and the Doctor's head were millions of stars splattered almost carelessly across the night sky. Clara watched the Doctor shut his eyes and inhale deeply while the wheels in his head began turning.
"1559," the Doctor breathed. "Scotland? No sorry, France. Definitely France." He looked beside him at Clara and winked. "France on the brink of a new reign by Francis and Mary, Queen of Scots, at the beginning of her trying life. Three husbands, plenty of death and scandal, an eighteen-year capture and finally and execution by the one and only, Protestant Queen Elizabeth I."
"You just can't help showing off, can you?" Clara said with a raised brow and a shake of her head.
She began marching toward the massive French Castle that loomed in front of her. Through the windows, golden light fell in shafts as if broadcasting luxury and wealth. The chilled stone exterior was the perfect opposite of the champagne, warm interior. But wasn't this expected of the French Court?
