Alexander knows he loves Laurens. He also knows that he is straight and only has a platonic relationship with Laurens. He does not think about the taste of Laurens' lips, the soft curls of his hair framing his honey-drop freckles, the curve and snap of the muscles under his skin, or the region under his breeches he wouldn't dare say even under the cover of his thoughts. He loves John Laurens, but not like that, ya know? I mean, come on, there's no way he's gay in a time where that could get you killed, where he's a public political figure, where he's a proud American soldier, where he could die any second (thanks to the time period and his mouth), or where he's married to Elizabeth Schuyler. Her brother died in a hurricane when she was 15 and her cousin committed suicide. John has had a semi-normal life. He thought he was gay for a while, then he met the Schuylers and Lafayette and Hercules. They showed him he was demi. His Father kicked him out of his house because he was gay at 16. He lives alone and has to work to pay rent. Peggy had a hard life with her sisters and her own problems. Being insecure about yourself is normal, but she's not insecure after everything that has happened. Maria didn't know what not being talked about all the time was until she met everyone. She stopped being called a sl*t and she didn't have to deal that much with James R. That much. Lafayette and Hercules knew each other since the very start. His enemy, Thomas Jefferson, isn't really helping his situation, but what happens when these two end up sharing a dorm at Kings college?
