Maybe killing and eating people isn't normal to civilians, but in a world where shinobi exist, killers who rape, torture, steal, etc. Really, what's normal supposed to be like? Hiruzen Sarutobi the third Hokage wanted Naruto to make friends his own so he makes him go to the academy and makes him be part of a gennin squad. He hoped that by doing this Naruto learn that their are important things in life besides compling missions. Of course this mission there's condition from both sides. What if Naruto wasn't on team 7?
