"It is said that the Phoenix of Fire, Earth, Water, and Wind were created by Aeon, better known as the Phoenix of Light, Life, Peace and Creation, to aid him in killing Mors, the Phoenix of Darkness, Death, Chaos and Destruction."
"Do you know why?"
"Long before the ill fated battle, Mors was tranquil once....he was working seamlessly with Aeon. Life and death, peace and chaos, all being combined into a mixture of morbid beauty. Until Aeon happened across our little planet, Earth. He fell in love with a mortal woman, she was a princess, seen knelt, hands clasped together, praying at his altar. She wished for her sick father, King Arthur to become better. Aeon listened to this prayer, he agreed to help her, but in return she must wed him, she said yes. Mors, hearing news of this grew jealous and enraged, he wanted Aeon to himself, so as his last attempt, he wanted to destroy everything Aeon created, to plunge this world into eternal darkness. But, for luck was on our side, he was stopped, slain by the five Phoenix's and banished into the black flames of the underworld....forever..."
"But yet again, as luck would have it, we need all six of them to save the Earth before we destroy ourselves...."
He walks forward, pressing the blade into his throat. His skin is taunt against the serrated edge, and blood beads around it until it drips down his neck in a crimson trail. My eyes widened, wanting it. He is looking at me with those dangerous, glinting green eyes, daring me.
"Kill me, then. If you feel nothing, you can kill me. Then you can leave. The choice is up to you. It always has been," He whispers. His words leave me as cold as the blade at his throat.
My heart is subjected to this stabbing pain, like I'd turned the knife on myself, and I would rather it be like that.
"But if you don't," he whispers," you are mine and all mine. We will rule the dawn of a new age, we will complete our bond, and you will forget about her. Make your choice."
I can hear my heart beat in my ears, and I swallow agaisnt the rush. These are my options. Kill him, or agree to be his.
I make my own choice. I can not take my freedom away. I can not be the mate he wants, but I can not kill him. With a deep breath, I turn the knife on myself.
