Ang kwentong ito ay halaw sa ikaapat at ikalimang kabanata ng Memories de un estudiante de Manila (Mga Alaala ng Isang Mag-aaral sa Maynila) ni Jose Rizal sa ilalim ng palayaw na P. Jacinto. Ipinapakita sa kwentong ito ang buhay at karanasan ni Rizal noong siya ay nag-aral sa Maynila, sa pamamagitan ng paglapat at pagsalin nito sa konteksto ng buhay ngayon. Mahalagang laging unawain ang mga desisyon at gawain ni Rizal base sa panahon at konteksto noon. Ano naman kaya ang maaaring katumbas ng isang Rizal-na matalino at malawak ang imahinasyon, base sa mga pagsubok na dala ng kasalukuyang panahon? Sa kwentong ito, nais ng mga manunulat na bigyang buhay si Rizal, ang kaniyang mga karanasan, at lalo na ang kaniyang mensahe sa mga kabataan.

TUNGKOL SA PAMAGAT: Ang "banyuhay" ay Tagalog para sa "metamorphosis".  Ito ay hango sa mga pinagsama-samang salita na bago + anyo + buháy.
