I wake up to a loud thumping noise. As I gain consciousness I realize that the noise is inside my head. I try to open my eyes only to be assaulted by the white blinding light which seems to be everywhere.
I groan as I try to sit up, my legs feeling numb. As my eyes adjust to the bright light, I notice that I am in a big room. My mind is fussy, head is throbbing. Everything is white here, the walls, the door, all plain and depressing.
I look towards my right and gasp. There is young man laying in a bed same as mine, just a few meters from me. I notice his dark hazel hair, his pale complexion just like mine.
"Ethan", I whisper. Panic seizes me as the events of the past twenty four hours flash through my mind and it doesn't help a bit that I and my brother were laying here for god knows how long while there was a war going on outside.
I scramble out of my bed and stumble back to find a drip attached to my right wrist. I rip the drip from my wrist and run toward my brother.
"Ethan, wake up", I try to shout but it comes out no more louder than a whisper.
"Where are we", Ethan croaks shielding his eyes from the light when I wake him up.
"I don't know and I don't care", I say as I help him out of his bed.
I can see that we both are weak and we already have scars on our face and hands and I don't even know where we are but there is no time to waste.
"We have to get out of here Ethan, there's battle to fight".

I should try to fight. But what's the point in trying to run away? He would eventually find me and if he has his way he would most likely kill me. If this is my fate then why am I trying to fight it? I felt someone harshly grab my waist and pull me up and I complied. They dragged me down the alley and into the busy street.
