Rubies Under the Sun is a fantasy fiction set in a post-apocalyptic U.S., years after millions of people were infected by a bio-chemical explosion. The government has since rebuilt its structure-less democratic and more totalitarian-and established a law: all adults must kill at least one infected person a month to prevent the spread and to eliminate the infected. Emery is approaching his 18th birthday, and also his first law-enforced kill or risk a maximum penalty of death. Kill or be killed. After studying the infected, also called Redducs, from afar, he learns there might be more to them than just flesh eating "zombies." Will he be able to make his first kill as the law demands, or does he see a flaw in the system and choose his own path?

Firstly, A trigger warning for mental health/ self inflicted wounds when reading. you're only 18 years old. your name is zoe. you always had a love for the apocalypse but didn't think it would truly happen. and you slowly learn that nobody is who they say they are. Nobody is to be trusted. Things are gonna fall apart, and nobody can save us now. This book is being rewritten again and hopefully is better than the first and second time it was published. It's kind of cringe most of the way. Wrote it when i was like 13-14 years old or something and tried rewriting when I was about 16. Didn't work. Trying to rewrite it again at 20 but i don't think the first two books are saveable. Book three so far however is going well(i believe anyway). The second book has also been rewritten and will be rewritten again. now I'm working on finishing book three. All characters are mine but ellis is not I will be changing a lot of character names again in this rewriting process in all books, ellis being the biggest.Complete
