The Soldier of Stars ~ Band of Brothers [1]

A young woman who finds peace in the stars, and let's them guide her even through the darkness that might overcome her.

Hazel Parker of the WAC, Catherine McCown of SPARs and Elizabeth Elliot of the Cadet Nurses' Corps take part in Operation Virago which will send 250 women to the front lines to fight alongside men. The government, along with the War Department and direction from General Eisenhower decide this is a secret, covert operation that the public will be shielded from, to see how integrating women into war will work. 

Each of the 250 women come with their own ambitions of what they want from war and why they signed up in the first place to be apart of this program. They become split into each of the 5 branches with leverage from each of the branch commanders, and split into groups of 2, 3, or 4 women and are placed into their different respective branches. The enlisted men of each branch, well, they do not know exactly how to approach a woman who, at the moment, has more military training and experience by the time they get placed into their positions. 

Hazel Parker, Catherine McCown and Elizabeth Elliot are placed into the 101st Airborne, the first 3 women to be apart of the Airborne. A few other women head off to the 82nd. These 3 women become part of the 506th and are put under 2nd Battalion, in Easy Company. This Company, the men in it, and the friendships and ever-lasting bonds they recreate might just change their lives, forever.

Ad Astra Per Aspera is the sequel to The Soldier of Stars. ----------- Waking up disoriented and inside a hospital, that has the dingy army issued light bulbs, the rough cots and the smell of despair is not how Hazel thought her new year would start, especially with the pulsing wound that lies in her side. Hazel Parker, severely injured and mentally unstable, lies in wait at a field hospital, as Easy Company continues to battle the tortures of the war. Catherine McCown, Elizabeth Elliot and Easy Company, are struggling, especially after the major losses of Bill Guanere and Joe Toye or others like Donald Hoobler and especially Skip Muck and Alex Penkala and most importantly, the tiny sniper Hazel Parker. "What are little girls made of?" Cutting off all of her hair, faking a medical examination, and signing up for the paratroopers aren't feats that were necessarily easy to achieve. They also weren't done out of a desire to prove oneself, or to demonstrate that women could do more than keep the home fires burning, or even an ambition to experience combat. They were done out of desperation. On the wrong side of the pond and desperate to get home, as soon as Posey discovers that the fastest way back to Europe is via troopship her decision is made. Now all she has to do is make it through basic training. That, and make sure no one finds out. She supposes she'll find out what little girls are really made of in the process.

Soon, under a new and more dangerous regime, the UCA essentially betrayed their own allies in the form of 'liberating' them. Using tactics and strategies, along with superior firepower and technology, they're able to control most of the world in just over a decade. Russia and China become the last free nations in world as the surviving militaries and civilians make their last stand in what could only be described as an inevitable defeat. However, just as all hope seemed lost, a prayer for a miracle is answered. In what could only be described as an act of God, UCA discovered a portal being opened in China and tried to invade the other side, only for their armies to be brutally pushed back. It was here the Confederacy is forced to fight against an enemy they thought they exterminated during the Civil War. Jason and Piper are living in the California Bay Area to finish their high school education. But making friends is hard and bullies are determined to make their lives misery. Percy and Annabeth are living with Sally, Paul, and 3 year old Estelle. But Tartarus, two wars, and five years of questing has tolled them more then they first thought, and hiding it is getting harder, especially when they go to school. Frank and Hazel are Praetors, (along with Reyna). And honestly, they are just passengers along for the ride. Part Two Frank, Hazel, and Reyna are at CHB to create an exchange program between the camps. But something is going on with the Fifth Cohort Percy, Annabeth, and Leo are going to school together. But Leo senses that something is wrong and is determined to figured out what it is Jason and Piper aren't really in this one This part contains panic attacks, but not flashbacks.
