Wynnie Blanchard was what you call a "wall flower" she wasn't much of talker. She would mostly be in her head and to herself. 

She wanted to try to talk but she just didn't want to engage in simple conversation. So instead of talking she wrote her feelings down in her diary, she feels as though nothing can hurt her while writing. All her life she longed for peace and for someone to show her genuine love, she felt she would never get it.
