Growing up in the foster care system taught her to stay quiet, keep her head down, and never draw attention to herself. When she's placed with Vivian and Mayor Elliot Harrison of Haywood, it feels like the fresh start she's been waiting for. But behind their perfect family lies something far darker than she ever imagined. After the body of a local child is pulled from the river, long-buried secrets begin to surface, and Amara finds herself caught in a web of lies... The deeper she digs, the more dangerous the truth becomes. Because some secrets were never meant to be found. And someone will do anything to keep them buried....
