Dr.M est un médecin qui travaille au St Thomas' Hospital à Londres, un jour le médecin tombe par hasard sur le journal intime d'un patient décédé le jour même, ces mémoires appartiennent à un certain professeur nommé Edwin Lowford, l'étrange c'est que ces écrits relatent des faits paranormaux, des aventures ou le professeur a dû surmonter la réalité  
le premier cas évoque l'histoire de l'hôtel de Blavatsky. Gary un ami d'enfance du professeur décide d'inviter notre cher Edwin à son mariage, qui se tiendra à l'hôtel Blavatsky car la mariée est la demi-sœur du propriétaire de l'hôtel,  un hôtel soi-disant hanté par l'esprit de William Taylor l'ancien propriétaire de la demeure .
