The rebellion has failed. The districts are squashed under the boot of Capitol once again, the Hunger Games still going strong. District Thirteen joins the ranks of the districts forced to compete and the Capitol children clamor to volunteer, to prove that the Capitol will beat them all, no matter where they stand. And so, upon the arrival of the 100th annual hunger games, the entire nation of Panem is on edge.

Everyone thought they were fighting for equality. That they were fighting, primarily, to end the Hunger Games. To end the brutal murder of twenty-three children each year. People killed for this, fought for it, died for it. But they lied. The bodies have barely been cleared from the streets before President Coin makes an announcement; the Hunger Games will continue. But the children of the Districts are safe. It's the Capitol children who face death this time around, and everyone is excited for the fun to begin.

What if the rebellion failed, the hunger games continued? These are the 150th annual hunger games! To remind the citizens of the failed rebellion the Capitol decided to hide ruins in the arena. Vivus Redis, a seventeen year old boy from district 13, is being reaped. Will he survive and see his best friend and family again? Or will he die a horrible death in the arena? And what's up with all these mockingjay symbols? "Why?!", yells Res as she enters the room. "I told you to not do that! I told you that over and over again!" Tears start rolling down her face again, washing away dust and dirt. I don't know what to say, it's like I don't have a voice anymore, so I just stand up and go to her. Here in Panem, we are all depending on something, the Capitol depends on the twelve districts for goods, the districts depend on the Capitol for food and protection but also, the districts depend on each other. To highlight the fact that the districts of Panem are so dependent on each other, the tributes in this year’s Hunger Games will be randomly paired with one another. The pairs will be connected via a new Capitol invention that will mean when one of them dies, so does the other. This will mean that the pairs will have to protect each other, because their lives are in their partner’s hands and vice versa. As you may be wondering how this will affect the final outcome, I am very excited to announce that for the first time ever in Hunger Games history, two tributes will be able to win! Yes, you heard me correct. There will be two victors! You will all hear more about this after the Reapings have commenced, until then, I bid you all adieu. The one hundred and fiftieth annual Hunger Games has officially begun!’’
