Within the first hour, hundreds and thousands of people dropped like flies. These were the unlucky ones. When the planes flew by, the smoke covered the United States like a blanket and those who lived knew exactly what it meant;
The war had been won.
These chemicals were created with the intent of slowly eating away at the American population by taking away the one thing that mattered, their minds.
Avery was struck with severe memory loss when the smoke dropped, being the luckiest of her family. As an only child she didn't have any siblings, but her parents simply snapped, ending each other in ways Avery is glad she can't remember.
She ran as fast and far as she could before deciding what she could do with however much time she had left. So, she set out to explore as much as she could before she forgot everything all at once.

The Last Ones Left
"I can't lose you like I've lost everyone else" I say, something inside of him clicks and his eyes turn angry "You have no idea what loss is" he says through clenched teeth. The tears in my eyes finally overflow and they fall down my cheeks faster than I want them to "Everyone that I have cared for has either died or left me" i pause and glare at him "Everyone-" I shove him back "-fucking except for you" I sob. He straightens and glares at me "So don't tell me that'd I'd be safer with someone else, because the truth is I'd just be more scared" my voice breaks at the end. ****** Ellie is an 18 year old girl who was born into the apocalypse, her and her best friend Riley get bit, they both freak out and don't know what to do. Riley dies not even a day later, but Ellie doesn't which confuses her. She goes to her mother's friend Marlene who helps her out by taking her to two smugglers, Joel and Tess, who are instructed to take her to a group of Fireflies who can reverse engineer a cure for the infected. Joel is in his late 40's, he was there when the apocalypse started and has suffered ever since, until he meets Ellie and his entire perspective on life changes. He finds that over time he begins to have feelings for Ellie, he wants to protect her and shelter her from this horrible life. Can Ellie and Joel save the world? They used my vulnerability against me. They used that weapon, to make me accept their stupid idea. And I of course, accepted it, I didn't even know what they were going to do. They tugged and poked and even shoved their disgusting finger in your wound, just to see you cry. To see you change. No pitty in their eyes. They just continue. They drag you around with metal chains, hit you and turn you into a experiment. But I had enough of the tugging, the clawing, the moaning, the crying and pleading for them to stop, but simply feeding them with our pain. They turned me into something, that neither do they know what I am. Their afraid of me, of my reflexes, my strength. I killed a lot of them. They say I have a cold heart, that I don't feel nothing.
