Loneliness and I had grown quite close over the years. We shared a bond that I had never shared with anyone else. When everything in life was spiraling out of control, loneliness was the one thing I could always count on. Loneliness was my best friend, and I loved him dearly. *** Emerson had spent the majority of her adult life running-- running from her past, from her family, from the people that were supposed to love her; but she wouldn't run anymore. After so many years, she was finally ready to plant her feet firmly on the ground and face the past that seemed to haunt her no matter where she lay her head at night. The long bus ride had led her to Luciana, but it was the love of the local motorcycle club that made her stay. Now, caught up in a battle between outlaws and with her past closing in on her, will the love of two men and their motorcycle club be enough to keep her going? Or will loneliness continue to be the only source of comfort she knows? Will she continue to be the timid girl that everyone in her hometown remembered, or would she rise up from the flames as a new woman ready to fight for her future? *** The sky was a dusky purple, and the stars had already begun to litter the vast ocean above us. It was quite beautiful, the air around us was thick with emotions, even though neither of us had spoken a word. I knew he was escaping from his demons as he drove us further out of town, and suddenly, I felt weightless. I felt free.
