Maybe there is a chance, though. After all, things have a tendency to turn out okay in the end for Devon.
This is a side-piece to the Nemesis books and takes place at the end of the third and final book, Loud Like Love. It contains spoilers, so if you're planning on reading the books, I suggest doing so first. If not, I think it works okay as a stand-alone, probably.
