The muscles in my thigh constrict, and my heart pounds against my chest. I feel no pain, just something in my body that is uncomfortable. The woman pushes me with the remaining strength she had, and sprawls onto the floor. I trip on my heels, my ankle going in the wrong direction, and my body flops off the building.

My body is limp as I twist through the air. Falling is so fast you won't even realize you're dead.

I guess this is my death day.

My thigh begins to ache with every twitch, and I can't flip in the right position to land properly. I let out a ragged shriek, in pain and upset for being so weak. Everything is a blur, but I'm close to the wall.

If only I could reach for a window ledge.

I reach out, feeling the brick scrape my fingers raw, but I could barely feel it after slamming my head against concrete.

Rylee Wayne is a thief. She was known for her agility, intelligence and violence, and has been wanted for years.

Until she died.

To everyone, she was dead. But to herself and the others who were just like her, they were reborn. Reborn as ghosts to society.

They have secrets, secrets they have yet to discover. But someone has the most darkest of secrets, and they must kill them all.

DILLON'S P.O.V "Sweet dreams, Ariana." I whispered in her ear, causing her to shudder. "And just remember, I mark off those who are dead to me. Who no longer have a place in my cold heart...you are not leaving any time soon." **** ARIANA'S P.O.V The drinks affects seemed to be like a blanket. I felt squished in my own skin, my consciousness ebbing away but my limbs still moving, although barely holding me up. I was mentally dragged down as distant pulses entered my ears, my feet sliding across the table in succession to the dancing everyone was encouraging me to do. My eyes swivelled around as the scent of alcohol wafted closer to me, many hands shoving, pulling and gripping at me. I needed air that wasn't tainted with sweat and rotten with beer, but the more I unconsciously danced, the more I didn't care about anything. **** Peer Pressure! Restrictions! Betrayal! Gossip! Abuse! That list might be Ariana Coopers' biggest problems in school, but the outside world is a whole different story. Unraveling Aria's past and digging deeper into the truth is the only way she can find out who she truly is. That's not necessarily a good thing...or a bad thing. **** 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁, 𝗮 𝙗𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝗿𝗲-𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻! Volume. One in the Deeper Chronicles © Copyright

Highest ranked- #10 in action 2/16/2017 A promotion. That's all I wanted. I didn't want to run for my life. I didn't want to be kidnapped. I didn't want to face death. I didn't want to find out my whole life was a lie. I just wanted a bloody promotion. Guess fate had other plans? **** The cold air fanned over my face as I opened the door. The exit door lead to the back of the building so it was pitch black. I leaned against the wall trying to control myself. Blood was running down my arm and head. My hair was stuck to my face from all the sweat and blood. Everything was spinning around me and the ground seemed like it was shaking. Groaning I sat down and put my head on my knees. He knows who I am. He knows how I look like. He knows where I work so possible knows where I live. I am not safe anymore... no where. While I was in my own world I heard faint sounds behind me but I didn't bother to look or run away. The footsteps got closer and I was pretty sure it was Walker's men. I should run. I should try to fight. But what's the point in trying to run away? He would eventually find me and if he has his way he would most likely kill me. If this is my fate then why am I trying to fight it? I felt someone harshly grab my waist and pull me up and I complied. They dragged me down the alley and into the busy street. I heard the opening of a car and the next thing I knew I was being thrown into a car. My head hit the hard leather seat and the door shut behind me. Maybe this is how my life will end. Maybe I should just let it happen. Maybe I was destined to die alone as a no one. With that I let the darkness consume me.

╰┈➤ ❝ [I stood there in unequivocal revelation, the lagging pain slowly catching up with me, but before I could release a fraction of the pain into my screaming, a bell rang, and suddenly, pilfered from my body was the ability to move. "Ahhh!!!" The man's body falls to the floor limp and I fall to the floor out of terror, "Why are you screaming? I saved you from being raped." I look at the man who is holding a gun with a little smile on his face. He holds the gun up to my head and I start crying, "P-Please, p-please don't do this. I-I won't tell anybody." He bends down and I whimper, "I don't think I can let you go. What happened you run and tell in the next three days? You've already seen my face and heard my voice." I shake my head, "I swear I won't tell anybody! I-I don't know anybody!" He looks at me up and down, "I'll give you two choices. I kill you now or you come with me. The door opens and closes thirty times in five minutes, the table clutters endlessly. What's happening? Why am I being held by two officers in the corner of a counseling clinic? Is this an interrogation ground now? Shadows race past me, like mirages in a desert, faces flicker into view only to vanish the next second. The officers speak, but I can't hear them. My senses are failing me. Something inside me is taking control, and I might faint. If I wake up in a hospital, will this still be a nightmare, or something scripted? The city woke to devastation. The news spread like wildfire-Dr. Nadia, a champion for human rights, had been murdered in this very clinic. Yesterday, she voiced her fear for her life; no one listened. Now, she's gone. The press churned out articles minute by minute, TV channels broadcast live updates, and the internet roared with outrage. Police teams haven't slept. Top agents were deployed. That's how I met Inspectors Carla and Javed-while being held as both the prime suspect and the sole witness to this chaos. Dr. Nadia wasn't just a leader; she was a symbol of hope. She fought tirelessly for the oppressed, for justice, for rights the government ignored. Yet, she seemed to know her time was near. A week ago, she hinted at it but continued her fight. Yesterday, she paid the price-her life. Now, the city mourns her loss, consumed by guilt for ignoring her cries for help. The last time I saw Nadia, she was here, in this clinic. She didn't want to live. She seemed tired, desperate for respite. How does someone so adept at convincing others to hold on end up wanting to let go? Her death feels like a betrayal. She trusted us, and we failed her. I failed her. Now, it's on me to prove this was no accident-a cold-blooded murder. Or was it?
