Lyla and Derek were born only two days apart, and we're not even aware of each other. One day, while Lyla is playing in her yard, Derek accidentally shoots a basketball into her front yard. He runs over and Lyla and Derek pick up the ball at the same time. They smile and introduce each other, until Derek keeps dropping by and soon Lyla and Derek have become the best of friends. On a terrible day, Derek and Lyla had got leukemia , a type of blood cancer. They battle the disease together finding medicines and pain until they finally are cured.
