In the midst of the most conservative city in the West is the Social Unity Party, colloquially known as the Witch Party. It is a political party that promotes radical change and equality for all people including its predominantly witch members, who are systemically oppressed by the rest of society. In a region so set against it, the fringe party was never going to get any ground, but then their leader is murdered while attempting to mentor the daughter of a conservative family. Katelyn's parents killed the one figure Katelyn has ever looked up to in front of her as she stared on, frozen in fear. Part of her wishes she could forget about her mentor and bury the truth as her parents would want, but even as much as she would follow their desires on everything, she knows they cannot be right on this. She gravitates towards the Witch Party as it fights for social justice and awareness for the truth. It might not make much of a difference by itself, but maybe it can provoke a change in the major parties with enough advocacy. Even so, the Party cannot protect Katelyn from the darker pain of her regret--in the past she has failed her conscience more than she can come to terms with. The veiled punishment of a witch in kindergarten still haunts her and as much as she wishes she could help, she is even more afraid of what will happen to herself if she does anything. As Katelyn tries to isolate herself from the world around her, her soul begins to fracture, revealing a darker threat behind her community's hate. --------------------------- Katelyn has dark thoughts
