Everything was a mess. She just suddenly disappeared with very little and vague trails of existence. Caius Volturi was furious, upset about the whole event. He needed to find her, but how? That's where one of his brother offered him a way, which is asking for help. Caius was not happy with this choice but he has no thoughts to argue with it so he just went with his brother's plan. And along that quest, is where he found her.
