She touched his face, feeling the contours of his harsh skin. Never had she wished for the return of her vision. But tonight, she only wished for one thing. To be able to open her eyes and not see darkness. "I want to see you." There was hopeless longing in her voice. He was quiet. "Why won't you tell me what you look like?" By the way his shoulders tensed, she knew she hit a sore spot. She couldn't help herself. She wanted to know why others warned her to keep her distance from him. He didn't answer right away. But what he said next brought deep anguish to her heart. She didn't realize how badly he thought about himself. "I don't want to scare you."
