Right after she gained her eighth Gym badge in Unova, she had an urge to visit her home region of Kanto and her friends who live there. After visiting with her family and friends in Pallet Town, she headed to Cerulean Cape to visit Bill, who started up Crystal's PC Pokémon storage system. Bill was in the middle of an experiment and Crystal offers to help, which brings her the ability of a Ditto: the ability to change into any Pokémon. That is, with practice. The plot is about a ten-year-old boy named Ash Ketchum and his first partner named Pikachu, who travels to a new region called Galar. His goal is to challenge Leon, the unbeatable champion. Galar is home to its strong and competitive trainers, so the road will be a challenge for him. Ash is also traveling with two companions: a young adult woman named Sonia, who is also the granddaughter of Professor Magnolia; and a boy named Hop, who's Leon's Younger Brother and share the same goal from Ash of dethroning Leon. Together, the trio travels to the first section of Galar, meeting new trainers and Pokémon and learning about Galar history and secrets.
