Imagine living in a universe in which magical beings exist and may even have their own worlds. Now add soulmates into the equation and you've got a beautifully wonderful mess.
Enter Starr Hatter, a single mother who has a history of heartbreak and neglect. She never believed she had a soulmate, which was uncommon, but not unheard of. She'd never shown any signs of a soul mark, soul string, countdown, first words- she had nothing. Until he showed up.
Simon Erik was a demon with a reputation. While most demons seem to be angry or cold or just flat out mean, Simon was not. He was quiet and reserved and took longer contracts than most other demons. He was more of a protector than anything else, despite the fact that he typically stuck to himself. With all the tragedy that's happened in his life, he expects no soulmate to come to him, especially because he wasn't born with a soul-sign. So when he is summoned by a 9-year-old girl in the human world, he expects it to be another basic contract. Until he meets her.
