Raina Swift is still trying to pick up the broken pieces of her life, two years after escaping the confines of her home. Finding therapy in her simple life of waitressing during the day and wandering the city during the night, she knows there's no room for happiness, let alone anything more. But that's okay, because she's finally at peace, and that's all she could have ever asked for. But Raina's quiet, tranquil almost-life is suddenly upturned when Seth Hastings shows up one day at the diner while she's working. She sees some of herself in Seth, and she knows that he has been through just as much as she. So all Raina wants to do is to never see him again, because she's desperate to leave her past exactly there-in the past. Seth's not willing to let Raina slip through his fingers, though. He understands all too well how difficult it can be to move on, and he knows that Raina will never be able to move on until she faces her demons head-on, instead of running away from them as she has been doing for the past two years. But there's more to their story than a serendipitous encounter in a run-down diner. [Camp NaNoWriMo July 2020]

~completed~ "She drew with the colored pencils even though the only thing in her brain was a blank page. She wanted everybody to believe that she was as vibrant as her art. I was a dead soul in the body of a youth. I would have cried if I was strong enough, but I was not... We both knew the pain too well. She was an anomaly and I was a reject. We may seem desperate for something more, but we both want a future. She wondered if she would ever find true happiness again. I wondered if anyone would accept me for who I truly was."
