Toshiro is coming back from his vacation. When he went through the Senkaimon, he appeared into a world, he has never been in before but knows about. He goes to the Hokage to see if he could help him get back to the Seireitei but found nothing. So to pass the time, Toshiro agreed on becoming a Shinobi but an Anbu. During the years as an Anbu, Toshiro forgot about his life in the Soul Society and basically 'grew up'. His body went from a child to a teenager within 5 years.
