They came upon the palace before the blooming hues of autumn, turned to the dull and savage harshness of winter. Dark clouds of fall storms blanketed the sky, and leaves fluttered down from the trees with the violent wind. Two boys seemingly in their late teens ventured into the unknown before them, and swiftly lost in its false promises. Swept up in the burning beauty, and the darkness that loomed underneath its surface like an oleander.

But the summer of her senior year Rowan's parents decide to move to a "sweet little town in the middle of nowhere". With a town, new home, and no friends she thought she'd have to leave her childish ways behind and grow up. Be helpful, no more made up creatures or stories or adventures. But "middle of nowhere" meant by an enormous, looming forest. And "sweet" meant the town held more secrets than it's residents. And "no more stories" meant Rowan was about to become part of a story more dark and dangerous than she could have ever imagined. Perhaps more than she ever wanted to imagine.
