Elenora Rivers is a 23 year old from Upstate NY. She lives in a small town on the border of Canada called Millington. She has lived there her whole life. Her parents are divorced. Her father lives in a small town in Sweden and her mother lives in the same little town Elenora does.
After losing her job, she desperately searches for a job that will help her get back on her feet. She applies for a vocal coach job at the castle of Katovia ( ka-tove-ee-uh ). She is surprised to get a letter in the mail stating that she is accepted. She is to teach the Queen of Katovia's daughter how to sing and play piano. She gets her own suite, and she gets to bring her cat with her.
King to be, Silas Michaels, is a stressed individual who is preparing for his coronation that will take place on Christmas Eve. After a stroll through the castle one night due to insomnia, he hears the angelic voice of Elenora singing at the piano. He silently listens and when she disappears to go back to her suite, he realizes that she left her sheets of music with lyrics. He wants to know this girl more than ever and he is determined to do so.

One night, during one of the Prince's courting events - a special type of ball, where dozens of young woman would dress up and dance with the prince, in an attempt to win over his heart and become queen to the Kingdom - An uninvited guest arrived. It was a poor, shivering, elderly woman seeking shelter from the bitter winter storm. Repulsed by her haggard appearance, the prince dismissed the woman. As a gift, the old woman offered the prince a single rose, but when he dismissed her again, the woman's outer appearance melted away. Only to reveal a beautiful enchantress. The prince begged for forgiveness, but it was too late - for she could see there was no love in his heart. The enchantress cursed the prince, transforming him into a hideous beast - and if he was unable to learn to love another, and earn their love in return by the time the last petal from the rose she offered had fallen, he would remain a beast forever. But the enchantress also placed the curse upon his innocent castle staff, who were transformed into antiques; suffering for the prince's mistake(s) in small, rusting, metallic bodies.
