Clowning Around

"Prior to this, there were two things I knew about Hunter Downey:

1. He was super hot. Tall, with a perfectly sculpted body, dark hair that was always tousled just the right way, and a smile that made girls go wild. He had the whole rebellious, carefree thing going for him too, with his leather jacket and his talent for getting in trouble.

2. He knew he was super hot. He could keep breaking hearts because there were so many other girls in line. He was so arrogant, and apparently I was the only girl at school who understood this well enough to not fawn over him all the time.

I guess my list just grew, because I learned something new about him today:

3.He's....a clown at the Regis Fun Fair?"

When Serena Montgomery signed up for a summer job at the fair, she was planning to just keep her head down and do what she was told to earn some cash. After all, she'd managed to escape everyone's notice at school despite her flaming red hair, so what would change now?

What she wasn't counting on was Hunter Downey, infamous bad boy whose tally of girlfriends rivaled the list of detentions on his record, to be working with her too-as a clown. And he needs her help: he told his shallow girlfriend that he'd be working at the park, and if she sees him in his funny wig, he'd never live down the blow to his reputation.

Serena does not want to help him. He's an arrogant, annoying jerk who definitely wouldn't care about a nobody like her. But the more time she spends with him-and the more she's unwillingly roped into his schemes and irresponsible motorcycle driving-the more she sees a different side of him.

Because maybe there's something underneath the leather jacket and ever-present smirk. (And no, not just his abs.) Maybe, underneath all the facepaint, big red nose, and snark she has to put up with every day....there's love?
